

Spacebound Chapter 1It was a cool, clear night in Chicago. It was mid September, and the arid atmosphere in an abandoned warehouse suited Trennor Smith, a tall, fairly lank man in his late thirties. He had jet black hair, and golden hazel eyes which were noted to physically twinkle, as noted by those who knew him well enough, whenever he was on the up-side of life. That night he wore a dark purple two buttoned suit and a handmade pair of his utility boots. The boots unique features are many, but they could be summed up as thus: they had carbon steel treads, which when the back of the boot is intentionally slammedSpacebound Chapter 1


Story Chapter 3It was past midnight when Randall realized that his father had been expecting him, for which he muttered a curse under his breath. Lyon, he declared quite seriously, breaking the perpetual humor and laughter. Im such an imbecile; I forgot that my dad was waiting for us! Lyon gasped in response; thinking very well that King Fareland might penalize him for having distracted Randall until midnight, if he hadnt already fallen asleep. Story Chapter 2Randall took a plate of venison and cod outside, awaiting Lyons arrival. The festival, though it was nighttime, still caused a raucous. The guards and townsfolk went to the local bar, The Barn Owl, and downed glass after glass of whiskey, ale, and beer. Alcohol was something that Randall never tried, no matter how many times he was asked by his colleagues. Earlier in the day he had talked to a man named Menlo, who claimed to be the great grandson of Maxwell Rand. That name had not been spoken for a while; the last time Randall heard of it was inStory Chapter 2


Anger ConsumesA boy hides beneath the guise of falsehoods He walks around happily, though scarred with an eternal chagrin He reads his silly books, does his best in school, But only when depressed does he acquire lifes fruits When hes happy, he gets nothing but a mouth full of dirt If he tries to trick the system, acting sad when hes happy, the punishment is worse The saying goes, Damned if you do, Damned if you dont It should go, Damned unless already Damned, a paradox in its own meaning The only thing he wishes to do is to lift his curse, To pursue thoseAnger Consumes

The blanket statement, "Editing/revision harms poetry," is simply wrong. It's akin to a photographer claiming that focusing the lens ruins the emotion of the photograph. It is the details, and the appropriate attention paid to them, that separate a photograph from a snapshot. Imagine a film maker slapping every frame he shot up on the screen without editing for continuity, for pacing, for effect. What a disaster.
